Established in 1892 Wearside Golf Club is a private members club on the banks of River Wear. It has a beautiful parklands course with an academy 9-hole pitch and putt course as well as practice facilities.
The course is under continuous development as part of a ten-year investment plan following a study by a renowned architect.
To continue with the successful development of the course conditions and financial investment we are looking to recruit a full-time greenkeeping staff to assist the Head Greenkeeper and his team in providing a first-class golf course for members and visitors to enjoy.
Reporting to the Head Greenkeeper the role involves daily presentation of the course, scheduled project work and all other aspects of turf maintenance.
The ideal candidates will be enthusiastic, commitment and a team player who can display a proven track record of producing high quality workmanship.

Candidates are required/preferred to have a minimum:
NVQ Level 2 Sports Turf Management
PA 1, 2 & 6 Spraying Certificates
Verified experience in greenkeeping
A positive attitude with excellent communications skills
A flexible approach to working hours
A desire to continuous personal development within the role
A good knowledge or interest in Golf
A good knowledge of greenkeeping practices
A chainsaw qualification would be an advantage
In return you will receive a competitive salary of £27,560 p.a. for a 40 hour week, workwear and PPE, an opportunity for further training and qualifications with enrolment into the employee pension scheme.
This vacancy is also open to non-qualified people who are willing to undertake qualifications however the commencing salary for the role would be £25970 p.a. rising to £27,560 p.a. once fully qualified.
