We would like to introduce your Captains for 2017

Club Captain  2019

Malcolm Bosanko

I'd like to begin by thanking the outgoing captain Ray Tatters, for asking me to be club captain for 2019. It's a huge honour, and I feel privileged to represent the club in such a prestigious role. We have recently seen the club making notable progress during testing times for many golf clubs. This is in no small measure due to the efforts of the club officials, who have adopted a progressive outlook,  which is paying dividends, and will do so into the future. The social side of the golf club goes from strength to strength, the ensuing income stream cannot be  under estimated,  as it ensures the financial stability of the club moving forward. Wearside remains the envy of many local clubs due to the dedication of everyone involved, they are to be congratulated for their efforts on behalf of the club.
The course continues to improve year on year, we are blessed to have an outstanding test of golf in a stunning location. Congratulations and thanks go to the greenkeeping staff who have shown an outstanding work ethic during 2018, following the one of the worst periods of early-season weather. You are a credit to Wearside Golf Club.
I have asked Steve Belchamber to be my vice captain in 2019, I was delighted when he accepted immediately. Steve will prove to be worthy captain and I’m looking forward to working with him this year, he has made an outstanding contribution to the club over the years. I'm also looking to working alongside the ladies captain, Anne Kirk. Anne has already proven to be an asset to the club, I’m sure she will be a great success as lady captain. I would also like to pass my best wishes to the Gent's Seniors Captain, Alan Bell and also to the Junior Captain, Will Girdwood.
One of my major aims for the year is to see the Gent's team winning promotion to the first division where the club has had many successful years in the past. It would mean so much to the club and to myself personally, to be successful come the end of the season. My best wishes go to anyone who represents the club in their efforts to reach our goal. The team players truly appreciate backing from  members of the club, please show your support by coming along to our matches.
I would also like to congratulate everyone involved in nurturing the thriving junior section of the club, it's heartening to see the progress being made. The development of the academy course is clearly paying dividends; it would be a great achievement to see some of the current crop of juniors progressing to represent the club at senior level in the not too distant future.
My thanks also go to the club sponsors, their contribution cannot be underestimated and is greatly appreciated.
My chosen charities are to be Prostate Cancer UK and the British Heart Foundation. Both charities do outstanding work supporting patients who need their help at a traumatic time in their lives. They also fund research programmes to help beat these killer diseases so please be generous in your support.
Finally, have a great year!

Anne Kirk

Ladies Section

I am delighted to accept the position of Ladies’ Captain of Wearside Golf Club in 2019 and I feel deeply privileged to be able to represent the Ladies Section during the coming year.  I would like to thank Kay Pendlington - Lye for inviting me to be her Vice – Captain.  I am pleased to welcome Ann Donkin as my Vice – Captain and I hope she enjoys the year as much as I did.

I have no hesitation in recommending Wearside Golf Club to any ladies who play this “beautiful game” or who are interested in taking it up. Our Ladies Section is very active, playing social golf all year round and for those who are interested, competitions both within the Club and in the wider golfing community.

I would like to wish the captains of our two teams, Ann Donkin (Anderson Team) and Gillian Patterson (Sivewright Team) and everyone who plays a very successful and enjoyable year.

I look forward to working with the Club Captain Malcolm Bosanko and I extend my best wishes to him and the Senior and Junior Captains for 2019.

It only remains for me to wish all our members and visitors a successful and enjoyable year of golf.
